which SQL server to use?

Hi, figured i would start to fiddle with SQL and VB.NET but not sure where to start.. should i use mySQL or MS-SQL, or...? what's recommended? and then for tutorials.. Looking for a good place to learn how to start working with SQL in VB.Net.

I could easily go to my best buddy google but he's giving me way to many results, he's unable to recommend anything..

So i figued it's a MUST to know your SQL as well as VB.Net in order to get a job working with VB.net. I see alot of them around and they usually always ask for sql skills..
