Programming Experience
Beginner
Hi all,

I am finding myself interested in programming, so .NET is the future.
I want to learn VB.Net programming.
As i am total or complete beginner with no programming background of any(languages); need to start learning vb.net to beacome a VB.net programmer. I have went through this forum, but couldnt find any information for total beginner in vb.net programming.
Please if you would guide me for which book(s) should i start with?

Thank You.

Frankly any book you buy at your stage is going to look totally alien. So as someone who has bought s few books over the years i would recommend one written by Francesco Balena. With most you get a cd with sample code just start working through the code using book as a reference. A guy once told me when i started out that when you first start learning vb.net that the most important part of the learning process is the part wher you'll be confused for about a year. Experience has told me that just reading will get you no where. So my advice would be to get coding.

Well you'll be confused for about a year but only if you have no previous experience in programming. No matter which language? Otherwise you will figure out the things much faster i suppose. Well, to be specialist for something of course you must spend a lot of time (much more than 1 year). In my opinion only total devotion and earning experience by working on diffrent projects can make you good programmer.
Reading books is useful of course but it suppose to not be the only resource for learning anyway. Use forums, chats, read some magazines about programming and the most important find yourself in which area you want to work, which mostly suits your preferences - database programming, game programming, web programming etc. and chose to pursue your speciality.

Regards ;)

Thank you for the information.

I would like to have a book that is easy to understand, and starts me with teh development or coding.

I have begin researching on books like:
VB.net step-by-Step by Michael Halvorson
VB.net Kick Start by Duncan Mackenzie

Or there are better than this?

Thank you.
