SQL Server Error No:14 Invalid instance

Hi ,

I want to made a connection to the SQL server through sa athentication on XP machine. Through ODBC i am checking. It is raising the error message
"Error no:14 ODBC SQL Server driver TCP/IP socket Connection open("Invalid Instance").....".I have checked TCP/IP is enabled and firewall is disabled. Can anyone help me?.

Check the Sql Instance name, Do you have more than one isntance of SQL SErver running on your machine? Or do u have given a differnt name to the default instance that was installed.

From the error it looks like it is nto able to match the name to the sql server instance that is installed on your machine.
