receiving mail into a vb program

Is it possible to receive mail into your application, like a normal mail program.
I want to learn from this as I'm quite new to vb.net and want to make a little mail program just to learn.
I know how to send mail from a form, but not how to receive and to display it in a text box or something.
Is it possible without 3rd party lib's and references, because these cost a fortune :-(

Personally, I have not tried it using VB .Net except for sending mail. For the time being, you may take a look at this:

Found a better one, with VB .Net source code included. However you still need to know some technicality in dealing with POP3 and SMTP server. Check this out:
