flipping a bitmap

Hello coders. I've been seeking help throughout google's mass of knowledge, but all the solutions i've found for this look really complex, and not specifically what i want. i am making a sort of side-scroller platformer, and all i want to do is be able to flip my character horizontally when he moves left or right. any help? thanks in advance~
