Question Fingerprint identity validation program

Hi, I'm doing a higher national diploma in ICBT kandy.
They have given our group an assignment on Fingerprint identification validation program.

Program scopes are as follows,

1. To be able to store finger print data in a mySQL database
2. To retrieve data from the database when a fingerprint presented
3. Mark in and out of the employee
4. Generate result sheet

Can you provide me a guide to how to achieve above tasks. I need to purchase a Fingerprint scanner to do this. Can you provide me some examples. Accurate links are more than enough.
