Question Vb.Net 2008 vs Vb 2008

I have a very Novice question. I am looking for a book on Visual Basic.Net. In the past when I have tackled a new IT topic I find that Sams Teach Yourself series work great for novices.

I am finding a lot of books on Visual Basic 2008 and none for Visual Basic.Net 2008 (for the Sams series). Visual Basic 2008 is not the same as Visual Basic.Net 2008 is it?

VS 2008 is .Net, they dropped the ".Net" part from the name starting with VS 2005.

vb7, 7.1, 8, 9, and 10 are all .Net
