Validating User Inputs to a XML Data Grid

Is there a way to validate user inputs into an XML dataset while using a datagrid? I currently have a datagrid setup to read/write to an XML file, but prior to accepting the user input, I want to be able to validate that the user input is indeed acceptable - ie. between a range of numbers, positive integer, etc? Does VB.NET support this?
