Question Server Status Utility

Hey everyone. As I'm completely new to programing I have a question. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 to make a server utility. It's a very basic utility. The sole purpose of this utility is to ping my ftp server and report if it's up or not. The FTP server is hosted on my computer. The URL is BobaFett2040.myftp.org. I'll do a rough sketch as to what I'd like the interface to look like later as it's 2 am. I hope someone out there is interested in helping me.
