MonthCalendar and surprises

Hi everyone. I decided to use MonthCalendar instead of the usual DateTimePicker. However, it seems that MonthCalendar has a mind of its own - the month previous '<' and month next '>' buttons seem to stick down - click < once and watch time unravel in front of your eyes. Also, the DateChanged seems to change itself every two minutes, even when I am not touching anything.

Is this a bug, or a plot by Microsoft to favour DateTimePicker, or is this a useful feature I haven't found a use for yet?

Can I turn these features off?
