Question large web pages design

I have an application that contains large web pages with many controls on each page. I would like to re-write the applicatoin because I'm not sure what the best option is to handle the large pages. Should I look at splitting the pages up or using tabs? Has anyone dealt with this scenario before?

when u say webpages are u working with ASP.net of VB.net, cos with VB.net u do win forms not webpages....so what exactly are u dealing with.
