EPL2 programming and vb.NET

I am trying to write an application using epl2 programming for a printer. Bascially I have no idea how to get started. I have done some googling but there is nothing really helpful. If anybody has done something like this before could you please point me in the right direction or share some examples with me. Please help I am lost.

What would be main idea/purpose of your application that you want to make with EPL2 Barcode printer language?

Sorry failed to mention I have read over EPL2 manual. As far as the purpse goes I am just trying to figure out how to talk to the printer and issue it commands.

HOpe this explains it a little better.
