Controls dont Appear at run time

Hi

I am using VS2008 express and I have created a form etc. But any changes I make in the IDE dont appear in the run time. It seems to revert to another version at run time and I dont know how. I have tried adding new code, i testted this with a form load messagebox, but it does not appear. I also added a new button and resized the form but none of these things are appearing, I really have no clue as to what is happening.

Thanks in advance...I forgot to say I am using VB.NET

I think I found the answer, but can anyone explain why this happens and how to prevent it.
