Web based instant messenger ?

I need to develop a web-based instant messenger for anyone who logs in to my website with a username/password. Picture something like the 'chat' feature in GMail. It does not need to interface with AOL, MSN, or anything of that sort. The only people my users should be able to communicate with are other users of the website.

I need to keep all of the development in .NET. I'm really at a loss on where to begin. I've been trying to research Jabber SDK's but I'm not having any luck.

Anyone have any suggestions?

For what it's worth, this will run from a standard Windows 2003 server. I pretty much have complete control over it, so dealing with stuff that other hosting services may not have installed is not an issue.
