I just started hosting my own website from my own computer and I'd like to eventually add web applications written in VB to it, but I'm not sure how that would work. I don't know too much about web design. The page is pretty basic for now. I actually just made it with Microsoft Word. I looked in the web application part of this forum, but there aren't many posts there. Some of my ideas are to give users the ability to download VB projects from my site, by either choosing a button to get source code or a zipped folder to use the completed project. I'm also thinking about having a message board and/or chat room. Can any or all of these be done with VB? Thanks for any help.

Whew... that's quite a lot of effort, but yes it can all be done with VB and ASP.NET. However, it has already been done in .NET and it's free. You can download the source code even and change it as much as you want, or use it out of the box and configure it.

You could use either DotNetNuke (www.dotnetnuke.com) or CommunityServer (www.communityserver.org). There are probably others, but these are both excellent and growing very rapidly. They are both extremely customizable and have a large user base, support and development base.
