Hi all,
I am having problems installing VS2008 Professional 90 day trail version.
I have Vista Professional.
I had VS2008 Express installed discovered some limitations and decided to look at the Professional.
Downloaded VS2008 professional and made a DVD.
Uninstalled VS2008 Express.
The new installation reports that it has found MS .Net framework 3.5 is already installed and that it will install:-
MS Document Explorer 2008
MS VS Web authoring component
MS VS 2008
The install fails with this error message:-
The following component failed to install - MS Document Explorer.
This is the error log entry:-
Microsoft Document Explorer 2008: [2] e:\setup\..\wcu\dexplore\dexplore.exe could not be unpackaged because it is not a cabinet.
setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent:re/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InternalInstallManager() with HRESULT -2147467259.
VS70pgui: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft Document Explorer 2008 is not installed.
If I execute Dexplore.exe manually it does something in a DOS window then closes that window.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem?
Tony
