VS help needed

Alrite guys, I installed vb.net express, and I am loving it!!!

I have already put vb to work and have started developing an accounting application for a friend, and have been concentrating on getting the forms right before coding. The program needs report functionality (invoices, dispatch notes and wot not), and as I only have the express edition I don't have crystal reports installed. So I dug around and found http://www.datadynamics.com/default.aspx which I downloaded thinking it would install ok, but you cannot install packages on the express edition as its been limited.

So now I need to upgrade to VS, and I don't know what version to purchase. I'm currently on a gap year from university, so I could buy the professional academic version, which is obvoiusly cheaper, than the commercial, but I'm unsure if thats going to be suitable. I will need to deploy the package, and will be charging the friend for my work.

I will also need to setup a database, probably mssql, and I'm unsure again what version will be suitable.



Any advice will be gratefully recieved,

VS.NET 2005 pro would best suit your needs ... as well as SQL Express (which is free) would be just enough too

You are eligibale to buy the Academic version but you cannot use it to build commercial apps.
