Question vb.net without knowing asp.net?

-is asp.net prerequisite in learning vb.net
-or can i directly study vb.net without knowing asp.net or vb6 ?

VB.NET is a programming language; ASP.NET is not. ASP.NET is a technology for building web applications. When you create an ASP.NET application, you can use VB.NET as your programming language, or you can use something else, usually C#. If you want to build web applications then you need to learn ASP.NET, otherwise you don't.

VB.NET syntax is based on VB6 but the two languages are quite different, just as C# syntax is based on C/C++ syntax but they are also very different.
