Hi frnds,

i am new to VB.net
I want to make my career in it
so can u guys help me to get a book that can teach me everything of VB.net
it should have good content on database connectivity
please send me the authors name as well as the price tag, if possible

i will be highly thankful

I don't know of a BIBLE book, i.e. one that covers absolutely everything, but the books I used to get me started (I had zero programming experience beforehand) were:

Microsoft ADO.Net by David Sceppa - Price $59.99
Murach's VB.Net Programming with ADO.Net - $49.50
Windows Forms Programming in VB.Net by Chris Sells & Justin Gehtland - $49.99

..prices are off the back of the books, I live in UK and got them cheaper from Amazon.

Hope that helps get you started. PS this forum has a wealth of information if you use the search, in fact I've learnt more from people here than I have from books. Remember sometimes the Internet is a free source of information, try using google groups as well.

As, Luke already told you the books are not much of help as the books are only theoretical part that is needed to be known undoubtedly but most of the examples there will be never as useful as ones you can find here and all over the internet. But, remember you should have something on paper (B&W) however ... at least two or three. I'm using them all the time. When I’m in the bathroom, bedroom, while I’m sitting on terrace etc. The books keep my concentration ... i had a difficulties when i started to learn VB.NET ... all the time i was using "{}" ";" at the end of statements etc. (old habits from C based languages). In this way (reading all the time no matter it is an e-Book or real book) i overcame this problem and now i’m really thinking in VB.NET.

Finally i would recommend one good book however :)

Hi guys,:)
I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

The book that is really beneficial for beginners is ->

"Beginning VB.NET 2003" [2004 edition]
from Wrox Press.

Level -> Beginning to Advance.

I'm really loving this book.

Thank you.:)
