the need for IIS?

I am currently using php,APACHE server and mySQL on a single pc and i want to install Visual Studio.Net 2003 but i have read that it requires IIS web server for ASP.net.
Can Apache be a web server for Visual Studio.Net? What are the configurations?

Or if not. what other solutions can be possible without compromising my apache...
