I recently responded to a post that was in VB.NET, saying that it may receive a better response when placed in a more targeted forum in ASP.NET section instead.

JohnH noted that the thread had originally been in ASP.NET but had been moved to VB.NET (hence my finding it there and suggesting it be moved)

On codeguru, we edit the thread title when we move the thread - provides some accountability that vbulletin seems to lack! :)

Maybe Neal would consider asking the mods here to adopt some similar notion - I dont know how often the issue of multiple/incorrect moves comes up; depends on the size and integration of the mod team I expect - mods are somewhat independent on CodeGuru so the SuperMods generally tend to notify in some way when they dump in/breeze through each other's sections :D

We leave behind redirects in original forum for moved threads (its a default but optional setting). I don't see any reason to mark a thread about where it came from when it has reached a better suited forum. We only occationally complain some about it in thread replies.

cjard,

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. It already takes too much of a mods time to help intelligent programmers place their posts in the most appropriate forum. They would rather spend their time answering questions and helping others. The fact we are here already represents a level of intelligence higher than average, if we can just have people place their posts better, this issue would not require attention. Maybe there is some vBulletin hack out there that will show where it was moved from, but I don't want this forum focused on that, nor do I want any more rules than are necessary. I want this to be a fun, enjoyable forum where we can learn and help others.
