Does anyone know of any possible way to record sound? or even where to start going about something like this?

Still a bit lost

I am trying to create something that would be able to record the sound that is being outputted through the speakers. There has to be a way to record the "data" that is being sent to that certain port while the program is running. I just have no idea where to even start trying to do something like this. Anyone else have any ideas of how to do this?
