Search network and share folder

I am looking to search for a folder over a network and share that folder. All i would have is the Folder Name or the name of a file in that folder. Is this do-able with VB.net? I'm using Visual Studio 2012 with VB.net Thanks for any info you can provide.

One of the things you could do is share the folder that contains the files on each computer on the network, then have your app read/write the files via the folder share.
