Screen backlight brightness

How to change screen backlight brightness in vb.net?
And i don't meen the screen gamma with SetDeviceGammaRamp
I need to change the backlight brightness..

Hmm i am little confused by that "backlight" ... in Win 7 there is a Screen Brightness to be adjusted but nothing like Screen Backlight Brightness. Please clarify it so we can move forward and find the solution.

Well, what i meant was i need to change screen brightness, the brightness that you change to make battery last longer.. not change gamma.!
I wrote backlight brightness because in every sample and forum that i was searching for, under "screen brightness" there was no sample that actuali affected the brightness, only gamma and contrast.! and with changeing gamma and contrast to lower, when i press "decrase brightness" button on my keyboard, it makes the brightness lower.. so its not the same thing, as that gamma, contrast thing..
Hope you understand now, what i need..

well, just in the same moment I have the same problem of Devimore...I well understand what you mean...
In fact I need also to decrease the background contrast and brightness in order to build an application that is easy to use and look also during the dark night...

Thanks but this is just switch off the monitor, I need to put down the contrst...but the monitor has to be visible

But my problem is stil unsolved.
I need some code to make backligth of screen darker

I'll try it out sometime to see if I could get it to work.
Unfortunately, it seems it'll only work on Windows Vista and later.
