project in vb.net and asp.net

hi,

i am new to the forum and joined as i am studying vb.net and asp.net. i have little understanding at the moment and was wondering if anyone could help. i have this assignment to do, its about creating a site like amazon, but we have to sells dvds/cds etc. we have to use asp.net ( for web services).the site has to have several functionalities such as searching for items,shopping cart, and more. we have been provided with some code but to be honest i dont know how its going to work. does anyone know of sample projects, or have experience of creating a site like this.
i would be grateful for any help.(hope i am posting in the rite section )

I would start with the http://www.asp.net/learn/data-access/ tutorials. You won't find "exactly" what you're looking for but it should give you an idea of what you're going to need to do.
