Problem Accessing SQL 2005 Express Database

Hi There,

really struggling with trying to connect to my SQL Server Express 2005 database.

My PC (XP Pro) is using VS 2005 to try to attach.

The SQL Database is on my other pc (Vista Business).


I have looked at several different items explaining how to solve but nothing has worked for me.

Hope someone can help!

Sorted it,

a few other tweaks may have made this possible but this was the thing which worked for me..

I opened the SQL Server management Studio Express (Something I had to download seperately from Sql Server Express) and connected to my database.

After this all was sweet..

There is also a Surface Area Configuration tool with the basic SQL Express to do this, How to configure SQL Server 2005 to allow remote connections

Maybe all the Management Util did was start the MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS service.. It would be pretty hard to conenct to SQL Server if it wasnt running.. :/
