Owner (or last saved by) of a file

Does anyone know how to get the owner (or last saved by) of a file?

Does Windows even save that information? Are you talking about Office documents specifically? if so then they have properties that are particular to Office and would require Office to retrieve.

Not sure if Office tracks it, but Windows Active Directory does. I have the code for VB6 that works. I'm trying to upgrade it for VB.NET.
