Is there a way to view fonts in a textbox (not installed)

I have a whole list of fonts, I know how to put them on your computer and view them using process, but is there a way to view the font type via a rich textbox?

Is there also a way to select "OK" on a folder path w/o going to the file?

You should use the System.Drawing.Text.InstalledFontCollection to list the installed font Families (it's a property of the IFC).

To display a font sample in a RichTextBox you write some text:
rtb.SelectedText="sample text"
Create a new Font from chosen FontFamily, size and style and apply it to the selection:
rtb.SelectionFont = New Font(familiy,size,style)

The problem is there are not installed, I have lile "el&gothic" on my flashdrive, and not my pc. I thought about installing it, then on selected.changed, uninstalling it, but the name and the font title are different.

Then you use the System.Drawing.Text.PrivateFontCollection, see example http://www.bobpowell.net/embedfonts.htm, use AddFontFile instead of the example AddMemoryFont.

Problem with PrivateFontCollection

I really hope someone can shed some light on my problem. I have run out of ideas.

I have written a calculator application in VB.NET using VS2005. It uses an LCD font to display the result of calculations. I followed instructions at http://www.bobpowell.net/embedfonts.htm to created a private font collection with the LCD font as an embedded resource. On the form load I assign the font to the label control which displays the calculated results.

I created a deployment project and built an msi for my calculator. I have installed this calculator on 4 machines. On 2 of them the LCD font displays as required (as it does when debugging in VS 2005). On the other 2 it displays incorrect characters in some undeterminable font.

I have checked the version of .NET on the target machines and there doesnt seem to be any pattern. I also wondered if it was something to do with the version of windows installer (setup.exe) but that doesnt seem to be the case either.

Can anyone suggest any other avenue of enquiry please ? I feel really stuck
with this one.

Did you know you can deploy and install the font with the setup project? Just add the font to Font folder in File System, then you can use it like any other installed font.

On reflection, if I did as you suggest would it then be possible for the user to delete the font (and scupper the appplication) ?

Yes, user that do all sorts of things to mess up any application installation, including the OS itself
