imis problem

I have a problem, where I need to pass information from my login page (username,password) to IMIS database and the database provides me with one userid to autheticate the user. I can't duplicate the information in my database, so the user information remains within the imis database.

Can anyone help me out how to do that. I think its web services problem, but let me if its not and any ideas on how to do that.
