I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. If you're asking us whether you should take up programming with VB.NET then I doubt that anyone will say no. If you're asking us whether you should do an actual course led by an instructor then it depends exactly what you're hoping to get out of it. Such a course might accelerate things if you want to become a professional but the investment may not be worth it when there are so many resources available on the web. If you're asking us for links to useful resources then I'd suggest that you start with the tutorial link in my signature below.
