I created a database, uploaded it to the internet. I know want to connect to the database. I don't want VB to 'download' it, I want it to view it, so when it comes to updating the database the one on the server is updated.

JET understands some notions of networking, even though it is a file based database. If you use windows file sharing to access the database then the JET drivers on the local machine may contact the jet drivers on the remote machine (if they are installed) and ask them to perform some operations but, to be perfectly honest, if youre needing to write a networked database application, then access is completely the wrong choice of technology and you should use a database that is designed to be connected to via network, not file access
