Hey!

I have recenltly started using Visual Basic.NET 2003 as part of my course through the NITLC to get my MCSD. I am currently studying for my 70-306 using the MCAD/MCSD self paced training kit. I am wondering if there are any other books websites which might help me get a better understanding of VB.NET for the 70-306 exam.

Hopefully someone can help?

Thanks!!! :)

I don't get it. You recently started VB.NET 2003, you say you're a newbie, and now you want to go MCSD by using books ?????? What paper tiger are you hunting?

Yup!!! well fairly new! I've been programming for about 4 months! studying throught the NITLC currently working for my MCP and about to sit my 70-306. Hopefully i will acheive my MCSD through the course i am on!!! I was only looking for a bit of guidance NO HIDDEN AGENDA'S HERE! :)

Well, I only made it to MCAD, after that I ran out of money :)
What I did was building an application for every subject of the exams. So I built my own XML web service, my own SOAP encryption, my own w2k service, etc. etc. etc. Apart from that I had 4 years experience as developer and DB Admin before I started preparing for the exams.
That way getting certified had a value for myself as developer. It was a way to upgrade my knowledge.

If you jusr want to be MCSD as soon as possible, you'll be so called "paper certified", meaning you have the paper, but lack the experience. Please take my advise: take your time. Not to get the certification (you can even buy the answers to the exams if you want...), but to become a valuable programmer.
Good luck!

Ok!

I can understand where you are coming from 100% but i have already paid to do this course, which takes me to MCSD level so i feel i must acheive this. I apreciate what you are saying (you can't become a competent programmer over night) But its something i love doing and also it gives me a chance to better myself and hopefully gain a better job. Thanks for the incite.
