biometric scanner in VB

I'm developing an application that requires an extremely high level of security, and trying to avoid unauthorised access (e.g. getting the password from a co-worker). First thing that came to mind is biometrics, more specifically incorporating a fingerprint scanner into my app. Any ideas on how to do this??
