What?s new in this release?

The latest version of Aspose.Pdf for .NET (11.4.0) has been released. It offers some new features as well as enhancements to previously supported functionalities. The capability to add hidden text is one of the major New Features introduced in this release. Furthermore, we also have introduced the capability to use PDF file objects after calling ProcessPragraphs() method which is not possible with earlier release versions. In order to add hidden text, set TextState.Invisible property to ?true? for the added text. TextFragmentAbsorber finds all text that match pattern (if specified). Please note that hidden text in the document will be invisible for end user while viewing the document with PDF reading software (e.g. Acrobat Reader). But it can be found using text search. There are several ways to make text invisible for end user in PDF and we have implemented one of those techniques. However the text added through our approach can be found using TextFragmentAbsorber and we can not guarantee that any hidden text added by third party applications can be found using same approach but in case you encounter any issue, please share the resource file and we can further investigate the scenario. The ProcessPragraphs() method was introduced to calculate objects placed inside PDF file and in case we need to have page count information during PDF file generation, this method can be used as it manipulates file objects and returns the desired information. In earlier release versions, once this method was called, the file objects could not be accessed any further. So if you need to add any new object to existing page instance, it was not possible and you had to have a new Page instance where objects can be placed. Nevertheless, starting this new release, you can utilize same Page objects even after calling the ProcessPragraphs() method. As well as the enhancements and features discussed above, there have been specific improvements regarding PDF to PDF/A, Multi-Column PDF, FootNote rendering, generation of large table objects inside PDF, XFA Form to Standard Acro Form conversion, PDF to Image, PDF to HTML, HTML to PDF conversion, Text replacement and rendering PDF files to XPS format conversion. The list of important new and improved features are given below

- Add and search hidden text in PDF document for post processing

Extract Highlighted Text & Removing All Text from PDF Document using .NET

What’s new in this release?

Aspose team is very excited to announce the new version of Aspose.PDF for .NET 18.6.0 [/b This new release has introduced new features related to text manipulations and PDF/UA validation. Along with that, it has also made some fixes to the bugs, reported in earlier versions of the API. It has been an essential requirement to extract highlighted text from PDF documents. Earlier it was possible to extract text from PDF documents on the basis of some specific regular expressions or by specifying a string to be searched. TextFragmentAbsorber and TextAbsorber classes of the API, have been being used quite often and efficiently to serve the purpose. However, regarding the requirement of extracting highlighted text from PDF document, it has investigated the feature and introduced TextMarkupAnnotation.GetMarkedText() and TextMarkupAnnotation.GetMarkedTextFragments() methods in API. Users can extract highlighted text from PDF document by filtering TextMarkupAnnotation and using mentioned methods. An example, demonstrating the feature usage has also been showcased in the API documentation. While removing text from PDF documents using earlier versions of the API, users needed to set found text as empty string. The performance overhead in this case was, to invoke a number of checks and adjustment operations of text position. Which was why, several performance issues were observed while performing such operations. It could not minimize the number of checks and adjustment operations, as they are essential in text editing scenarios. Moreover, users cannot determine, how many of text fragments will removed and adjusted when they are processed in loop. In Aspose.PDF for .NET 18.6, new Aspose.Pdf.Operators.TextShowOperator() method has been introduced, in order to remove all text from PDF pages. Therefore, we recommend using this method to remove all text from PDF document, as it surely minimizes the time and works very fast. In latest release of Aspose.PDF for .NET, all descendants of Aspose.Pdf.Operator were moved into namespace Aspose.Pdf.Operators. Thus ‘new Aspose.Pdf.Operators.GSave()’ should be used, instead of ‘new Aspose.Pdf.Operator.GSave()’. While upgrading to latest version of the API, users will need to upgrade your existing code where users has used previous Aspose.Pdf.Operator namespace. It has have also worked for introducing Accessibility Features, thus introduced new features as part of work on 508 compliance (WCAG) such as PDF/UA validation feature was added and Tagged PDF support was added. The list of important new and improved features are given below

- Add feature "Extract Highlighted Text from HighlightTextMarkUpAnnotations" to the TextFragmentAbsorber class

We are pleased to announce the new release of Aspose.Cells for .NET 18.6 . It has supported to add Microsoft Excel Formula Watch Window for the users. Moreover, it has included some important fixes and other enhancements for the users. Slicers are a strong way to filter pivot table data. You can insert slicers into MS Excel to quickly and easily filter pivot tables. Aspose.Cells now supports to create, manipulate and render Slicers in the spreadsheet. Please see the sample code on blog announcement page. It loads the sample Excel file that contains the pivot table. It then creates the slicer based on the first base pivot field. The following sample code loads an Excel file that contains an existing slicer. It un-selects the 2nd and 3rd items of slicer to refresh it. It then applies formatting/style of the slicer and finally describes on how to remove the slicer. spose.Cells also supports rendering of slicer shape. When users convert a worksheet into image or save a workbook to PDF or HTML formats, Users will see, slicers are rendered properly. MS Excel Watch Window is a useful tool to watch the cell values and its formulas conveniently in a window. Users can open the Watch Window using Microsoft Excel by clicking the Formulas > Watch Window. It has Add Watch button that can be used to add the cells for inspection. Similarly, users can use Worksheet.CellWatches.Add() method to add cells into Watch Window using Aspose.Cells API. Custom XML Parts are the XML data that is stored inside the Microsoft Excel documents and are used by the applications that deal with them. There is no direct way of adding them using Microsoft Excel UI at the moment. However, users can add them programmatically. Please use Workbook.CustomXmlParts.Add() method if users want to add Custom XML Part using Aspose.Cells API. Aspose.Cells can extract text from the Gear type Smart Art shape. In order to do so, users should first convert Smart Art shape to group shape. Then users may get the array of all the individual shapes forming the group shape using the GroupShape.GetGroupedShapes() method. Finally, users can iterate all of individual shapes one by one in a loop and extract their text using the Shape.Text property. Export Custom Properties to PDF & Get XML Path from List Object/Table using .NET

What is new in this release?

We are pleased to announce the new release of Aspose.Cells for .NET 18.9 . Many documents can have custom properties which were not made a part of the output PDFs earlier. Aspose team has provided this feature to maintain the precious information through custom properties by exporting these to the PDF files. These properties can be observed in Adobe Acrobat Reader by clicking on File and then Custom tab page in properties sheet. XML data can be imported to worksheets where sometimes XML path is required from the ListObjects of the worksheet. This feature is available in MS Excel by using expression like Sheet1.ListObjects (1).XmlMap.DataBinding. We are glad to share that this feature is available now in Aspose.Cells as well. Sometimes there is a need of assigning the sheet name at runtime. In this scenario, there may be sheet names which may contain some additional characters like <>+(?”. You might need to replace any such character, which is not allowed as a sheet name with some preset character. Similarly the length may increase to more than 31 characters which needs to be truncated. Apache POI provides certain features of creating safe names, hence similar feature is provided by Aspose.Cells to handle all these issues. It has increased the range of auto filters like filtering based on fill colour, date, dynamic date, number and texts. These filters were already part of our previous releases. Need was felt to add filters like blank/non-blank and custom filters with contains and not-contains. This time these filters are added along with sample files so that these features can be tested easily. QueryTable represents a worksheet table built from data returned from an external data source, such as an SQL Server or a Microsoft Access database. Aspose.Cells provides an option to read the address i.e. result range of cells for a query table. A few of the worth mentioning features and other improvements are also part of this release, such as support stock chart in ODS file, included unsigned Dlls of Aspose.Cells, Add Row.FirstDataCell property to retrieve the first data cell in the row, Handled exception when converting an XLSX file to PDF file format, Handled ArgumentOutOfRangeException while calling Slicer.Refresh(), Handled exception when retrieving the url of the list object’s xml data binding map, Handled System.OverflowException while calling Chart.Calculate and Handled exception while saving the document. This release includes several enhanced features and bug fixes as listed below
