allow editing for existing but not add new

i don't know if this is the right place to post this thread but hope for your help
i am using a datagrid linked with dataset in my application
the datagrid should allow editing for existing data with in the datagrid associated with the dataset but should not allow to enter the new data.

how can i do this?
is it good to use datagrid in such situation
and further i haven't the clear idea in what situation to use datagrid and listview control.

Not sure but the properties of the datagrid may allow you to set

ability to add and edit.
