text files and program updates

1. Hello. I need to make a sort of database where i can add things to by a simple edit of a text file on my computer.

Basically im making a log in screen and i need it to grab the information from 2 different text files (user.txt) and (password.txt) any help?

2. I also would like to know how to create an update system where they do not need to go to a site to download the updates and as they open up the application it will kind of like "auto-downoad the updates" any help?

I'm still at the basic beggining of this language and I know a fair amount so please make it quite easily understood.

I would check into IO.StreamReader to read your files.

Say i go with file.readalllines
where would i put into the code what file to read?
