XML Data to MS Excel 2003 (japanese version)

I need to transfer XML data to MS Excel 2003 in VB.NET using stylesheets that contains japanese characters. I am currently using the japanese version of Windows XP and MS Office 2003. But everytime I open the XML in Excel, it executes an error that says there are invalid characters in the stylesheets (specifying the japanese characters). Would there be any way to eliminate the error? Since all the data I will be using are in japanese.
