WPF going to die with Windows 8?

Not so much, what they've revieled so far is their main idea, however even with their latest "idea" when running on a Desktop, Laptop, Netbook PC's you still have full access to the standard Win7 desktop, which means that Winforms, WPF, etc are all still available. .Net's main abilities are far from being dropped at this time & my guess is that it'll be a loooooong time before we should be concerned.

I also suspect that this support for html5 & javascript is just a fad and may not live past Win8 either, but it's just my guess.

I agree that everyone is running around yelling about the sky falling for no reason. The fact that Microsoft are demoing a new feature of Windows 8 at this early stage has no bearing on how we will be creating web applications and Windows-based business applications in the future. It's an addition, not a replacement. This is just Microsoft displaying something flashy to keep the masses interested.
