Which is faster?

I need to retrive data from database and i need it to be fast so im trying to optimize code. If I use 3 datareaders to retrive data is it better to use this:

cn.open()
dr.open()
dr.close()
dr.open()
dr.close()
dr.open()
dr.close()
cn.close()

or this:
cn.open()
dr.open()
dr.close()
cn.close()

cn.open()
dr.open()
dr.close()
cn.close()

cn.open()
dr.open()
dr.close()
cn.close()

Why don't you test it ...use timespan class and find out which way is faster than other. Btw, i think that by any logic 1st way is more efficient (faster if you want) althrough opening and closing conn doesn't spend a lot

What type of database are you retrieving data from? If SQL Server, you can retrieve multiple resultsets with one query to the DB.

ms sql server database. can you give me an example of multiple resultsets. how to populate 3 combos using that method?
