I'm quite new at VB.Net so pls forgive me if I make stupid remarks

I have an existing database with all the names , adresses....of my family. The purpose is to make an application that I can distribute among my family so that everyone has access to the info in it. It should also be updateble.
So, first question is....is it possible to make an application like this in VB?
Secondly.... I made a so called connection with the database ( that is..;it shows in my solution explorer). I was thinking of using a combobox (wich should be filled with the names from a certain field). Should that be the right way to go? And how do I do this?
