unable to replace text with formatted text from function

vb.net is still new to me me, but this is easy (i thought), but i can't figure out why its not working.

I try to replace (the typed text in a textbox) with the new formatted (same text)
this piece works.

so I call the function as follows

when it runs I get no error but the textbox is emtied

what am I doing wrong?

i forgot the " Return strText" in the function
