I have been programming with VB.Net for about 2 1/2 years now, and I want to get into some basic game programming, idealy using DirectX 9.0. I have found only two books (both Apress books) which seem to fit my needs, Beginning .NET Game Programming in VB .NET and Learn VB .NET Through Game Programming

The first seems to fit my needs, but it doesnt cover multiplayer (online or offline) games, which is a topic I am highly interested in. Though, the second book is aimed at teaching the reader vb.net (as previously stated, i already know it), it does cover multiplayer games, but not as much DirectX as the other (though it does cover DirectX 9.0). Which one do you think is a better choice? I am also open to any recomendations for any other books on the subject. Thanks.

If in doubt buy both... :)

Pick the one you'd rather start with (complex game or multi player) and work through it, then when your done move onto the other. That way you'll end up with a good multi player game.
