Hi, I am a SQL Server DBA/Programmer at a small business. Basically, I write some VB.Net, VB6, stored procedures and do some minimal DBA work such as backups, restores, etc. I want to take my career to the next level. I wanted to know if you think I should get the MCDBA if it would help my career as either a DBA or programmer or if it's mostly just for DBAs. If it is, what would you recommend if I choose the programming path?

P.S. I heard that DBAs work like dogs compared to programmers. Is this true? Late hours, weekends, etc.
