Using the hyperlink control i can set the type, whether it should _Self, _blank, etc.

can i do the same with linkbutton or button control?

No, these are client-side directives for the anchor tag <a>.
But by "same" meaning you can do some stuff with client-side Javascript, like open new window with 'window.open' function, setting new location for a frame etc.
