TableAdapter vs DataAdapter

Contrary to DataAdapter used in VB.NET 2003, VB 2005 uses TableAdapter instead.
I found the properties & methods of the two objects differ quite a lot.

Hope someone will kindly explain the difference in using the two objects. If there is any diagram available depicting the TableAdapter in database architecture.
