Hi,
I have 2 values in 2 textboxes that I want add into a database. The database connection goes fine, but when I go on to execute the INSERT INTO statement, it returns a syntax error. The code I am using:

VB.NET:

Your specific issue here is that "Password" is a reserved word in Jet SQL. It's best to avoid reserved words and special characters, e.g. spaces, in identifiers, e.g. table and column names. If they can't be avoided then you must escape the name in your SQL code. In Jet SQL, you do that by wrapping it in brackets. Note that there's only one type of bracket and that's what many people call square brackets. What people call round brackets and curly brackets are actually parentheses and braces.

While it's probably not an issue right now but there's another major problem with your code. Using string concatenation to insert values into SQL code is a very bad idea. To learn why and how to do it properly, follow the Blog link in my signature below and check out my post on Parameters In ADO.NET.

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, but thanks a lot for that. Although I did go onto a website for the JET SQL reserved keywords (can't remember the link now...), Password wasn't in there. Thanks a lot, you have really helped with my app.

Thanks again,
