semi transparent panel

Hi, how do you do a semi-transparent panel in .net forms?? I read somewhere that you just enter 4 integers in the panel's background property i.e. first number is the alpha value and the rest is the colour, but that doesn't work, it just seems to make the panels colour lighter. I've also tried setting the panels background colour in code using the FromARGB function, but this doesn't work either. Is there a way of doing this??
