Required Software

I am new to .net and would like to have hands on experience. I worked with vb5 before. Please give me the list of softwares that i can download for free. (ie.,Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 etc).

I have installed "Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x8)" and ".NET Framework 2.0 Software Development Kit (SDK) (x86)". Do i have to uninstall them?

Nope. That won't interfere with anything. You'll be fine with downloading VB .NET from the link.

I tried to download visual studio 2005 from the following link. All it loads is the image but not the executable. Any idea??

you cant d/l (a full version of) VS 2005 - its a paid for product

You need one of the express versions:

All it loads is the image but not the executable.

Those images for trial software are intended to be written to CDR with CD Burning software or opened to disk with other compatible software as described in dowload page.

Go for the free VB Express first as many here already have suggested, later when you are more confident what you are doing you can review the professional packages.
