Regarding add in for outlook

Hi all,
Is there any difference between COM add in and add-in using VSTO

I'm using VSTO SE and .NET Framework 2.0 and i want to develop an addin for outlook which access my company's database. I've developed the application for accessing the database using vb.net
What I need to do now is, to create an addin and integrate my application with it.
When I open outlook and click on addin it should run the database application which I created earlier.
