Dotfuscator problem!!!

I'm newbie to dotfuscator world.
I've windows application written in c#, that is having reference of 3 more assembly files(written in c# also).
Now i want to make my application code secure.
Although i tried using the tool dotfuscator but no luck.
Can u guide me the steps to do this.
